Q and A
What do you love about your role?
As a Customer Relations Executive, I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with a great team at NRS Sydney. I am fortunate to be in a position to be mentored in the media industry by a highly skilled and experienced management team. I find it very rewarding to develop and build long term relationships with many small business owners. I enjoy being able to meet business owners at their business to gain a very clear understanding about their passion and then work with them over the next 12 months building a brand campaign to generate an increase in public awareness of their brand. It is very rewarding when a small business owner calls me to say that the advertising has been very successful for their business.
What has been your career path to date, how did you progress to the NRS Media role?
My career path to date has been an adventure on a variety of paths. I initially graduated from University with a Business Marketing degree and moved from Queensland to Sydney to pursue my career in marketing and sales working for a multinational shipping line. I then moved to the UK to continue my career in marketing and sales working for a national self-storage company. I then had a change in direction and came back to Australia to study as a school teacher. I then worked as a teacher in the UK and then back in Australia in North Queensland and the Sunshine Coast. After spending 8 years teaching young children I had the desire to recommence my career in business. I have always kept active in marketing and sales during my time as a teacher and had that desire to get back into sales in Sydney. The opportunity arose to join NRS Media and I was extremely excited to commence my career with NRS Media.
How long have you worked for NRS Media?
I started working with NRS Media in September 2015.
What’s different about working for NRS Media?
The main difference about working for NRS Media that I have found is the opportunity to work on 5-6 different media campaigns over 12 months. In one campaign the media partner might be print and then the next campaign the media partner could be radio. The opportunity to travel to the destination of the media partner for the campaign we are working on for presentation week is phenomenal, it is such an awesome experience to meet the business owners face to face and then build a relationship with them over the next 12 months as I manage their account. Another difference is the consistency and quality of training available to us as well as the initial ‘Boot Camp’ that we experience when first joining NRS Media. It is a great experience and introduction into how to be successful at NRS Media.
What have you learned during your time at NRS Media?
To date, I have learned more about the print media landscape in Sydney and how to analyse quality branding campaigns and differentiate branding campaigns from call to action campaigns. I have learned very structured and effective ways to uncover the needs of a business and understand that it is crucial to build strong relationships with small business owners as I manage their advertising for the next 12 months. I am very fortunate to learn from a very experienced team at NRS Sydney, each day there is always something new that I have learnt and will continue to learn.
