Christchurch welcomes 82 new customers

New Zealands 3rd largest newspaper by circulation and the country’s only free metropolitan newspaper, The Star is published twice per week on a Wednesday and Friday, in print, online and now via a free mobile app. In a changing media landscape where paid newspapers are struggling. The Star is proud to be one of the country’s only major newspapers that is increasing its readership.

The Challenge

In 2011 Christchurch was hit by an earthquake that caused widespread damage especially in the central city. The damage exacerbated by buildings and infrastructure already being weakened by 2010 earthquake and its aftershocks. For Christchurch Star the impact was massive, their customers premises were destroyed and the business population moved to other towns, the result being that their revenues hit rock bottom. Christchurch Star knew they needed to attract new customers to make up for the shortfall. NRS Media were delighted to help – their reputation is built on helping partners find and win new clients at a local level.

Enter NRS Media

Having heard about NRS Media’s work in the industry Advertising Manager Peter Hampton decided to bring them onboard to help with their challenge. He knew that finding new customers in the devastated town would be hard but he was confident that NRS Media would help them meet their target. Christchurch Star ran the AD Impact programme that helped them prospect and find new businesses. Peter goes on to say “We not only met our target but we exceeded it and we brought on board 82 new customers on a 12 month advertising programme” Not only did Christchurch Star exceed their revenue targets, the NRS Media programme helped motivate and bring together a team that had been surrounded by devastation.
